FNSI - UFO no more!

Last night was FNSI over at Heidi's blog (which stands for Friday Night Sew In for those of you who haven't heard of it). I haven't signed up in a while, but yesterday morning I checked and she had sign ups up! (I was being selfish and trying to find motivation to get some of my February projects done).

So last night, after we watched the final episode of LOST (I'll delete any spoilers if they're posted, but I will say that SOMEONE ALREADY TOLD ME THE ENDING when I said "We are going to start renting the entire run of LOST, we never watched it!" Answer to that: "HERE'S THE ENDING". Ugh. People.) and ate dinner, EJ left to change his oil and I got down to some serious sewing.

Less than three hours later, I went from this:
Denim Quilt IP
Had to cut a few extra blocks from *other* denim I have for another project.

To this:
Denim Picnic Quilt
Glorious large denim quilt! The funny white glare is from the flashlight my partner set up to fully light the quilt in the picture. 11pm, darkened bedroom, not an ideal photoshoot.

And, like most people say, I don't know why I put it off for so long when it took so little time to finish it up. But I did, and it did, and now its done.

Going to take it on a picnic today (yay!) and then wash it - it smells funky from being kept in a plastic tub for 10+ years. And it will need an industrial washer at the laundromat, because it weighs a TON and is huge. And denim. And will ruin a regular washer.

Oh, I also got some knitting started/worked on - friend of a friend is expecting in April, I just found out and I gave their firstborn (after a long TTC process) a handknit, I think it's only proper that her sister get one too! Totally not expecting it, and I want to give a big sister gift too. Pics when I get it done (or at least when it looks less like a pink blob).

Visiting from FNSI and well done on a finish. Was it difficult to quilt with all the leg seams? It s very effective.

Katherine: it was not too difficult with the seams - the way the pieces are cut there aren't any flat-felled seams that overlap. I sewed all my seams "open" to reduce bulk where they did cross (only a couple of places). Thanks for the comment!

Visiting from FNSI - Wow! that denim looks great. Knew I was keeping all my old jeans for a reason, I mght have to "discard" a few more now.
I particularly like the effect all the seams give it, very interesting.
