I've been thinking a lot (again!) about my goals for the year. Last year's focus was "Balance" - wow that was a hard one to work toward! This year's word came to me in late October, and it seems very fitting with where I'm at professionally and personally right now.
Here's a quick review of "where I was" last January, and the progress I made:
Career
* Get licensed (LCSW) - this didn't happen; setting it for a goal this year.
* Be open to new opportunities - yep.
* Complete CYC training - also didn't happen, but not for lack of trying.
Craft/Creativity
* Craft Stash diet until 3/31/11 (only buy specific supplies needed to finish UFOs) - yep. I also joined a group to work on UFOs over the summer - didn't really finish any, but made great headway!
* Scrapbook my wedding and honeymoon - nope.
* Complete 70% of UFO's during the Stash diet - nope, but I tried!
Physical Health - made a LOT of progress in this area by the end of the year!
* Work out a minimum of 4x per week
* Journal my meals
* Take my vitamins and suppliments daily, including 3-4L of water
* Get a minimum of 6 1/2 hours of sleep every night
* Hit a healthy weight by the end of the year - I am 20 pounds down from where I was, and that's a start!
Home
* Declutter bedroom and hall closets - some progress made.
* Take care of backyard - started and stopped.
* Use dining room table to EAT ON - met, just barely, by Christmas Eve!
* Maintain household routines, including Weekly Home Blessing - started and stopped here, too.
* Meal plan and make 90% of all meals at home - made great progress here (linked to my Health goals above, strangely enough!)
So my goals basically break down into the four areas of my life: Professional, Creativity, Health, and Home. This year I'm going to keep some broad, year-long goals BUT break them down into manageable, bite-sized steps to accomplish in a month. Reviewing my goals quarterly ::really:: helped me move forward (especially on the Health goals, I was really letting those slide the first half of the year!).
I am very happy with the progress I've made in 2011, and will follow up with a post on my focus word and goals for 2012!
