Every year I choose a word that is my 'theme' and guides me through the year. This year I came up with my theme-word in October - early, but very fitting.
This year's focus is "patience". Over the past year I really did struggle with finding Balance in my life - but I made good headway. I don't just toss my themes aside at the end of the year; I'm still working on being bold, on finding balance, on taking good care of my self. But it became very clear in October that I need to develop my Patience. Toward myself, toward progress, toward others, toward just plain old 'living life'.
I also found it very helpful to check in on my goals quarterly (or so LOL) throughout the year. This helped me re-focus and evaluate my progress, and I feel very positive over the progress I made in 2011.
My goals also break down into four main 'areas' of my life: Personal/Health, Professional, Home, and Creativity. I do have some "general" goals to accomplish in each area this year, but I am also taking a different tack in 2012 - setting small goals each month to accomplish. Like little steps to accomplish the main goal(s) for the year.
Long Term Goals for 2012:
Professional
* Get licensed
* Publish one article
Creativity
* Finish 2 new quilts
* Create a SMALL craft space
* Make a pair of pants
* Turn 5 stash patterns into Tried N True (TNT) patterns
* Purge scrapbooking tools/papers/misc

* Put together a recipe binder
* Maintain my physical fitness
* Hit a healthy weight this year
Home
* Continue to menu plan weekly
* Continue to establish and use weekly routines
* Build a Household Notebook
* Set up an emergency plan
* Decorate the house into a "home"
